Whether it's a series of related (or unrelated) images, or a portrayal of sequential events; with or without plot or reason, MAKE A SMALL COLLECTION OF SURREALIST OR JUST SURREAL IMAGES!
What this Means:
You are to create a series of works that are meant to be viewed ~together~ despite any randomness you might choose to include. As for surrealism, PLEASE INTERPRET IT AS YOU LIKE. Visual arts can follow the rules of surrealism OR do your own 'surreal' thing. Lit etc, just go with either as well, it's loads of fun : D
What to Do:
AS USUAL, works may be of any size and done in any media you can come up with
Submit it and TELL ME so I can feature it in May.
LATE ENTRIES ARE TOTALLY ACCEPTED
Specifics
Fine Arts and other Drawing/Painting - I'd suggest researching the whole concept of Surrealism (it's great fun) and explore key figures in the movement (like Dali etc). Keep in mind that it's as much about composition as it is about exactly what is in your image. Or just go with 'surreal.'
Photography- There is such thing as Surrealist photography! Research it! Who was Man Ray? Discover the art within objects and PLEASE don't hesitate with manipulations!
Literature - Surrealism was a whole movement, literature included. Pierre Reverdy? Discover 'automatic writing' and write things to such a great extent of detail and expressive language that it becomes almost nonsensical.
Others - refer to the above and USE YOUR IMAGINATION! Surrealism was about discovering something NEW so do it!
DEADLINE IS APRIL 30th!
Entries ABSOLUTELY ARE accepted LATE
Ask questions here or the main journal or note me!
GOOD LUCK!
